A little traveling music please…

Bright Side of the Road

June 4, 2008 · 1 Comment

Some people might question the wisdom of embarking on a 4-week 4,000-mile road trip as soaring gas prices exceed the four dollars per gallon mark and show no signs of slowing down. However, I choose to see the glass (or gas tank) as half full rather than half empty. As we set off down the road in our fuel-efficient Toyota Prius hybrid, we can take comfort in the more than 40 miles per gallon that our gas-stingy vehicle should attain.

So now that the question of our sanity has been addressed, here’s our planned itinerary…

  • 1000 Islands (Canada/US)
  • Toronto, Canada
  • Dearborn, MI (Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village)
  • Mackinac Island, MI (via Mackinaw City)
  • Marinette, WI (stopover on the way to Minneapolis)
  • Minneapolis/St. Paul/Bloomington, MN (Mall of America)
  • La Crosse, WI
  • St. Louis, MO
  • Memphis, TN
  • Nashville, TN
  • Asheville, NC
  • The Outer Banks, NC
  • Home

Road trip map

Most of the stops are for 2 or 3 days, although some (such as Marinette and La Crosse) are basically 1-night stands to break up the drive between the other sites. Our departure date is Sunday, June 29th, with our return scheduled for July 26th. I will attempt to add posts to this blog on a periodic basis with updates on our activities and experiences, and photos, along the way.

So, sit back and join us on our journey.
